What is the difference between a tomato grown in one of the sunniest of Italian market gardens, in the peninsula of Salento in Apulia, and one grown out of season in a hothouse? At first glance, none: from a distance they look the same. But come closer, and you’ll find that the first has an intense scent; taste it, and you’ll find genuine flavour: quite simply, the scent and flavour of tomato. The same goes for a tomato sauce: in the jar they all look the same. But you just need to open a jar of the 100% Tomato Sauce by Sapori del Salento and take in the fragrance to understand the difference. Here we have irresistible simplicity, a product that would not be out of place in our grandmothers’ kitchens.
