"ORCI COLLECTION" 'Intenso' Extra Virgin Olive Oil
A very old story. The Muraglia family has been producing extra virgin olive oil for more than 70 years in accordance with antique tradition. Already in the early twentieth century, in fact, the longstanding process of grinding the olives had led to the production of an oil that distinguished itself immediately for the excellence and balance of its taste, the fragrance of its scent and the harmony of its flavors. Still, today, the Antico Frantoio Muraglia receives the unconditional praise of consumers for an oil produced with the passion and experience of generations of olive growers and the skills of its own master oil producers.
The olives and production. The excellent extra virgin olive oil is obtained exclusively from the prestigious “Coratina” and “Ogliarola barese” variety of olive, selected and processed by the classic method of cold-pressing. The olives are pressed with granite grindstones whose slow rotation produces the perfect homogeneity of the pulp, which is subsequently processed in a continuous cycle using state-of-the-art equipment. From it we derive an oil with very low acidity and with incomparable organoleptic characteristics.
Scientific research. A research project was undertaken with the Department of General Physiology at the University of Bari to evaluate the tumour-inhibiting effect of the antioxidants contained in “coratina” olives. Thanks to the presence of phenolic compounds, phospholipids, liposoluble vitamins and the balance of saturated, unsaturated and polyunsaturated acids, Antico Frantoio Muraglia extra-virgin olive oil possesses outstanding health-promoting properties. It is extremely easy to digest, protects against liver and heart disease and resists the formation of free radicals. It also assists in keeping down the level of LDL (the harmful cholesterol).
