Il Decameron brings together eight specialties from Italian producers, built around the goat's milk cheeses of Latteria Perenzin, the dairy of San Pietro di Feletto in the hills of Treviso.
The three Perenzin goat cheeses show how far one milk can go: a plain aged goat cheese, one aged about three months with Sicilian thyme, and one massaged with black pepper and extra virgin olive oil during aging, a gold medal winner at the Mondial du Fromage 2023. Next to them, a Quartirolo Lombardo with chili pepper.
The pantry side covers the whole country: giardiniera in sweet-and-sour brine, lentils from the Colfiorito highlands in Umbria, Apulian taralli al calzone with raisins and onion, and a trio of Alpenzu fruit compotes from the Aosta Valley (blueberry, apricot and raspberry), made with 75% fruit and sweetened with concentrated grape juice.

The goat cheese with black pepper and olive oil in pasta or gnocchi cacio e pepe, with a medium-bodied red wine · the thyme goat cheese grated over pumpkin pasta or baked over seasonal vegetables, with an aromatic white wine · the Alpenzu compotes on bread or rusks, or as a filling for tarts and cakes
Keep refrigerated at 36–43 °F (2–6 °C). Once cut, wrap tightly in plastic wrap.
