Semi-fine rice, with a medium-sized grain, round and semi-long shape; the abundant release of starch makes it ideal for the preparation of tasty risottos.
Vialone Nano is a very versatile rice and suitable for any kind of cooking preparation: its resistance to cooking, flavor and ability to absorb condiments are particularly exalted in traditional and creamy risottos.

Founded in 1650 by the Zenobrio family, the Pila Vecia located in Isola della Scala in Passolongo, is owned by the Ferron family, who already managed its operation on behalf of the noble family, since the beginning of the 1900s. Since then, there are 5 Ferron generations that follow one another in the management of the famous Pila Vecia.

The original factory for husking rice is still in operation and productive thanks to the perseverance of brothers Gabriele and Maurizio. A real pearl of the territory, unique in its kind, protected by the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage as a historical monument, with annexed landscape constraint.

Our new favorite

My son's friend is an Italian chef who makes the most amazing risotto. Thanks to him I now understand that you can't just use any rice for risotto. It has to be the right rice. He uses Vialone Nano and he says it is the best, most flavorful rice for risotto.

Great rice

I will give you my opinion as a professional chef: I really like this rice for its variety of uses. It is perfect for risotto, but it can be used also to prepare any type of dish that requires rice with particular characteristics that only Vialone Nano has.
