This is a detailed, comprehensive and lavishly illustrated account of the Cathedral of Monreale – one of the most outstanding monuments of medieval Europe and its incomparable Norman mosaics. The book explores all the key elements and features: the building's origins and construction; its Byzantine and origins; its magnificent mosaics; and its gardens.

This book provides a new vision of the Cathedral of Monreale as a work of art, rather than as an administrative and dynastic tool. It presents the chronological study of the activity of mosaic-designer, architects and craftsmen. It also shows how the mosaics were built as well as some reflections on the history of their restoration.

A rich text with never-seen-before photographs offers a unique insight into this incredible masterpiece.

I highly recommend it

The book is a great guide and source of information for those visiting the Cathedral for the first time.

I expected an interesting history of this beautiful church

Instead, I found a fascinating look at the history of the Normans in Sicily and their reign over the island and its people. The text is supported by many beautiful photographs, most in color. There are so many wonderful details in these photographs, each with a caption detailing what you are seeing.

This book is a must-have for anyone who visits Monreale

It gives you the story behind the mosaics and the cloister, the history of its construction, and includes beautiful photos of these magnificent works of art. I'm planning on purchasing more as gifts for family and friends who are planning on visiting this beautiful site.

The book is magnificent!

The pictures are incredible. The author has a wonderful way of writing that makes the reader feel as if they are actually being taken on a guided tour. I have visited Monreale many times but this is the first time I have felt I really know the history behind the art. A great read for anyone who loves Italian art, architecture and history.

A deep and passionate journey into the world of Tuscany meat. Chef Stefano Bencistà Falorni invites readers on a voyage into Tuscany's kitchens, home to a surprising variety of healthy and delicious meats.

For centuries Tuscany has become a synonym for fine art and good living. Stefano's recipes are an authentic reflection of the Tuscany cuisine (Authentic Meat Culture) that is rooted in the Tuscan way of life.

His passion for pork, beef, veal and lamb is guided through his lifelong experience in traditional and modern Tuscan cooking styles, enriched with current nutritional knowledge.

It is impossible to pin down which Tuscan region has the most distinctive cuisine, but there are some unique features found across all Italian regions: primarily dishes that cull from the vast resources of animal husbandry in each region.

Stefano explores more than meat made into classic dishes such as Bistecca Alla Fiorentina, Prosciutto di Parma, Pasta e Fagioli and much more. With these 40 recipes by Stefano Bencistà Falorni, you are sure to love this book.

Best in the World ai GOURMAND WORLD COOKBOOKS winner in the Pastry category!

Sweet, intense and colourful is how Sicilian patisserie will appear to the fortunate eyes seeing it for the first time.

Those who have time to get to know it well, however, will find it is also sensual, dramatic and irreverent. Because making pastries in Sicily is never a purely gastronomic issue: it may be a declaration of love, social ostentation of personal wealth, a way of mocking a defeated enemy.

It is a gesture that underpins countless intentions, coded and described in stories rooted in the mists of time.

This anthology collects some of those stories and the mostdelicious traditional Sicilian sweets, illustrated by poignant images and accompanied by some personal tips, the scent of childhood and some memories, all bound together by one embedded certainty: in Sicily, a sweet is never something that is just good to eat. It is a magical microcosm, an ancient tale, a legend that demands to told..

45 recipes, 22 deeper insights, 100 photographs, 15 drawings.

Octopus, swordfish, and then tuna, bluefish, assorted small fish for frying or making soup, red prawns, shrimp and clams all feature prominently in the seafood cuisine of Southern Italy, served up in uniquely delicious dishes with authentic Mediterranean flavors. The result of an ancient knowledge, the recipes in this book are a faithful representation of the culinary traditions of this land, brought up to date in the light of a contemporary vision. Ingredients and traditions of the different regional cuisines merge to create an encounter between Puglia, Calabria, Sicily, Sardinia, Campania, Abruzzo and Molise.

Catch of the Day also offers a rich and detailed understanding of traditional fishing techniques and seafaring culture, while recounting centuries-old methods, which have practically disappeared today, and insights into the different species of fish and seafood preserves. All with an eye to the most genuinely popular aspects of the culture of the sea in Southern Italy, in many ways a still archaic universe, which still hands down its ancestral legends and stories with a legendary flavor.

Each recipe features is thoroughly introduced: taking you through its description, pairing and the easiest way to prepare each.

If you love Italian recipes and looking for the easiest way to prepare them, this book is handy. In fact, you will discover more delicious Italian recipes you have never heard of in this book. The book is written in both English and Italian.

80 traditional recipes - 80 ricette della tradizione

Milanese risotto, Valtellina pizzoccheri and pumpkin tortelli as first course; casoeula, Milanese cutlet and stewed frogs per second, and finally a slice of Sbrisolona or Panettone cake. Lombardy amazes for the richness of its culinary traditions and its raw materials, which modernity has only partially erased. The book returns this kaleidoscope of flavors, moving from the plain to the mountains, from the countryside to the lakes, and making use of some of the most celebrated chefs in the local gastronomic scene, who have associated a modern vision in line with the spirit progressive in the region.

Each recipe features is thoroughly introduced: taking you through its description, pairing and the easiest way to prepare each.

The flavours of Garda lake, Verona and Valpolicella

More than just a recipe book, this is a journey that will take you from the shores of Lake Garda through the gentle hills of Valpolicella to Verona. Every few miles everything changes: landscapes, scents and flavours, as well as the splendid images accompanying the book and the 42 recipes illustrated by local chefs, interpreters of a modern cuisine, but with close ties to the land. Equally characteristic of these places are the 12 wineries chosen, producers of vintages that embody human skills and, once decanted, yield all the richness and unique flavors of this land.
